A nationwide public transit card that can be used to travel by both bus and subway, has been launched. Along with the nationwide card, a province-wide pass will be released in Shandong. Nine cities in Shandong including Qingdao, Weihai, Linyi, Dezhou, Heze, Binzhou, Jining, Liaocheng and Zaozhuang have already realized the interconnection and issuing of the shared card, and completed the transformation of all or parts of the urban bus routes, news from Shandong Transport Department.
The testing of the platform and system in Jinan, Zibo, Dongying, Weifang and Yantai is undergoing to make sure the operation and card issuing before the end of the year. Tai’an and Rizhao are speeding up the system construction.
It’s reported that with one single card passengers can travel to all cities in the province. However, due to the differences in local policies, this card may temporarily unable to enjoy the local preferential items.
By the middle of November, 200 among 250 cities have completed the transformation of the “China T-union” traffic terminals. A total of 21 million public transit cards have been launched, 950,000 terminals have been set up and over 100 million transactions have been made in different places. In addition, the card is planned to cover all types of transportation including bus, subway, taxi, ferry, metro and shared bikes.
