Shandong saw more than 148,000 outbound tourists during the National Day holiday, up 4% year on year, according to the exit-entry frontier inspection body of Shandong.

Countries along the Belt and Road, such as Thailand, Singapore and Russia, have seen rising numbers of Chinese tourists. Take Qingdao Airport as an example, travelers flying from here to Thailand and Singapore reached 3,600 and 3,200 respectively, both realizing year-on-year growth of around 200%.

Moreover, Shandong saw a significant increase in tourists heading for countries like Germany, Italy, Canada, Australia and America as Shandong had launched some new intercontinental routes to these countries.

To handle with the concentrated passenger traffic, all exit-entry frontier inspection organs in Shandong timely started a mode with special service to improve the efficiency of inspection.

Qingdao cruise home port also saw a surge in passengers during the “golden week”. Qingdao Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection Station provided 24-hour inspection service for passengers and launched a service mode —— handling entry formalities for passengers on the voyage, leading to significant time saving of custom clearance.
